I am concerned about your wellbeing and also the many people we all work
with in the mountains.
We are working day and night to create some kind of added support for
our work together, especially on the problem of earthquake relief.
Our previous work on micro-finance and developing a network of socially
responsible businesses will not end. In fact, it has prepared us to do
this new work with great effectiveness.

am writing on behalf of all of my colleagues at the National Committee on
U.S.-China Relations, and the people in the two delegations that we have brought
to meet with you (our Young Leaders in 2005 and our Public Intellectuals Group
just last December). We want to tell you how sorry we were to hear about
the devastating earthquake in Sichuan. We hope that you and your family,
and all of the people in Dayi County you work closely with, are safe and have
not suffered any major losses.
You,
and all of the people of China, are in our thoughts at this very difficult time.
The immediate response and heroic efforts on the part of the government
and the people themselves to this tragedy is a credit to the spirit and
determination of China and will be noticed by people around the world.
