July 8, 2009, Director Zhang Shuping of the Rabbit King Research Center of Poverty Alleviation had an interview on the topic of role and prospect of volunteers and non-government institutions in earth quake relief work and reconstruction, proposed by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Zhang had 3 hour discussions with Dr. Chen Jintang from the Department of Applicable Social Science of the university on the role and experiences of volunteers and non-government organizations in post earth quake reconstruction, hoping to raise capabilities of people in confronting natural disasters based on those experiences in fighting against the Sichuan earth quake.
